How to Use Placeholder Sections in SendSites

By Declan · Updated May 2026

Use Placeholder Sections to mark exactly where content should go on a proposal, so you or your team can pull pre-approved layouts straight from your Company Library.

Placeholder Sections are structural shortcuts that mark where content belongs on a proposal and give your team instructions on what to drop in. They save time on repetitive builds and keep team-built proposals consistent — and they stay invisible to buyers in the final view.

Add a Placeholder section to the page

In edit mode, open the layout options and drag a Placeholder section onto the page. Drop it at the exact spot where content will need to be added — for example, directly below your Lodging or Accommodations overview.

Pull content from your Company Library

Click directly on the placeholder box. This skips the top toolbar and opens your Company Library. Select the pre-built layouts or media cards you want, and they’ll load in directly above the placeholder.

Tip

Clicking the placeholder itself is faster than dragging blocks from the top menu — it puts the content in the right spot automatically.

Customize the instructions

Click the settings wheel on the placeholder block to edit the Description. Replace the default prompt with clear instructions for your team, such as “Choose a Lodging Section.”

Restrict the placeholder to a specific folder

In the configuration menu, check Restrict selection to Folder and pick the asset folder you want to lock the placeholder to (for example, Urban Lodging). Click Apply. Now clicking the placeholder only reveals pre-approved templates from that folder.

Note

Folder restrictions are the easiest way to keep brand and property content consistent when multiple sales team members are building proposals.

Note

Placeholder Sections are only visible inside the editor. When a buyer opens the live proposal link, the placeholder renders completely hidden — so your workspace stays organized internally and the buyer’s view stays clean.

Confirm the buyer view

Switch from edit mode into Preview to confirm the placeholder is hidden in the final proposal. The block should appear in the editor as a guidepost for your team, but disappear entirely from the buyer-facing page.
